Alyce reigns in the realm of Briar. I read the first book enjoying being in the head of a character, and now, the character has completely changed and is doing frustrating things and even though, narratively that's interesting and probably going to be solved in the finale - it simply makes *reading the story* an unpleasant experience. Like theres nobody in that book that is either all evil or either all good. So its like if Tim Burton decorated Versailles for Halloween is like how I like to envision that yes, because its like youve got I love all of the new characters. I liked that it ended up feeling natural and Alyce and Aurora just didnt fall into each other. It started with Goblins and Demons sneaking over the Etherian Mountains border just to tweak the noses of the Fae. And Im doing the head bob. Full of love, power, and betrayal, Malice is as compelling as a spell, as captivating as an enchantment, and as fascinating and delicious as a fairy-tale curse. But in this darkly magical retelling of "Sleeping Beauty," true love is more than a simple fairy tale.
